⚠️ The gluten-free trap I see thyroid patients fall into

Hiya lovely Reader,

I need to have a heart-to-heart with you about something I'm seeing in our thyroid community.

You know that moment when you decide to go gluten-free for your thyroid health, stock up on all those gluten-free alternatives, and then... nothing happens?

Or worse, you actually feel more tired and gain weight?

I hear you.

And I want you to know - it's not your fault, and you haven't failed.

Here's the thing:

I had a client recently tell me,

"I've switched everything to gluten-free, but I feel terrible and I'm heavier than ever. This clearly doesn't work!"

But here's what's really going on...

Those gluten-free substitutes?

They're not the healing foods your thyroid needs. In fact, they might be working against you. Let me explain why:

When manufacturers make gluten-free versions of pasta, biscuits, bread, or cereals, they have to use all sorts of ingredients to mimic what gluten does.

We're talking potato starch, tapioca starch, and various additives that can:

  • Send your blood sugar on a rollercoaster ride
  • Trigger inflammation (exactly what we're trying to avoid!)
  • Make your insulin levels spike
  • Actually interfere with your metabolism

It's like trying to heal your body while still giving it processed foods - just without the gluten!

So what's the answer?

Naturally gluten free foods that nourish your body.

So for example.

Instead of swapping your morning toast for gluten-free bread, what if you completely reimagined your breakfast?

Think protein-rich options like a nourishing breakfast bowl with salmon, and avocado.

Your thyroid will thank you!

Now, I'm not the food police! 😊

I just enjoyed some amazing gluten-free rocky road and various "gluten free" treats over Christmas myself.

But here's the key - it was a treat, not a dietary staple.

πŸ“Œ Key Takeaways:

  • Gluten-free processed foods aren't the same as healing foods
  • Focus on naturally gluten-free whole foods instead of substitutes
  • It's okay to enjoy gluten-free treats occasionally - but don't make them your daily go-to

🎯 Action Steps:

  1. Look in your pantry - how many gluten-free substitutes do you have?
  2. Pick one processed gluten-free food you eat regularly
  3. Replace it with a nourishing alternative this week
  4. Notice how your body feels with this change

Remember this:

Going gluten-free isn't about finding substitutes for everything - it's about discovering a whole new world of nourishing foods that love your thyroid back.

Want to dive deeper into this?

Hit reply and let me know what gluten-free substitute you find hardest to let go of. I'd love to help you find some healing alternatives!

Hi Reader, I have to share something that happened this Sunday that totally shifted my perspective (and might change yours too) 🌟 You know those moments when your heart just sinks? That was me when "Italian" was suggested for our weekly Sunday dinner family get together. If you're anything like me, your mind probably immediately goes to all the "off-limits" foods – pasta, bread, and more pasta! Italian isn't known as being the most gluten free of cuisines. Right? As someone with...

Today I want to share something that's been a total game-changer for my thyroid routine - and it all started with those middle-of-the-night bathroom trips! You know how we're supposed to take our levothyroxine at least an hour more before eating or drinking anything? Well, I discovered something that works brilliantly for me. Hi Reader, Can we talk about those moments when you realize something HAS to change? I want to share a deeply personal story with you – one that literally transformed my health journey. It's about the day I did something I never thought I'd do after 32 years of being a committed vegetarian... Picture this: I was at rock bottom with my health. I'd had 10 years of undiagnosed Hypothyroidism leading to Thyroid cancer. Even after my thyroid was removed and I was on 100% thyroid medication, things...
