Your doctor might not agree with this (but the science does)

Hi Beautiful!

You know what really lights a fire under me?

When people are told there's nothing they can do about their autoimmune thyroid condition, Hashimoto's

“Just take the tablets,” they’re told. “Diet won’t make a difference. Just accept it”

I’ve been saying for years that this simply isn’t true—and now, I’ve got some solid research to back it up.

👉 A new study looked at how ancestral or ‘paleo / primal-style’ diets impact autoimmune thyroid disease… and the results were pretty amazing.

Now don’t worry—I’m not going to bombard you with heavy science. But if you’re the curious type, here’s the research paper (it’s a bit dense):

The Effects of the Paleo Diet on Autoimmune Thyroid Disease:
Read it here

Here’s the short version:

📌 Every single study they reviewed showed clinical improvements in people with autoimmune thyroid conditions when they followed an ancestral (paleo/primal) diet.

📌 One showed significant improvements.

📌 Two showed complete resolution of the disease.

😮

Yes, resolution.

Let that sink in.!!

😮

This way of eating—stripping things back to what we’re biologically wired to thrive on—has the power to calm the immune system and reduce thyroid antibodies.

And it’s exactly the approach I took when I hit rock bottom years ago.

I was vegetarian (almost vegan), overweight, exhausted, and getting nowhere with the standard advice. So I did a full 180 and started experimenting with a modified paleo/primal way of eating—something that felt completely radical at the time.

Fast forward to today…

❤️
My thyroid antibodies have continued to drop

[My last test came back pretty much undetectable}.

🔥
My energy is back. I feel like
me again.

⚖️
And the best bit for me is that I'm back to my high school weight!.
And this happened without having to starve myself or go to the gym. Plus it has stayed off effortlessly!

Something we are led to believe is impossible, especially as we hit menopause or our 50's.
{I'm 55! Eek! }

It's not impossible once you start fueling your body the way it is designed for

And I see this transformation in my clients too—because the way we eat matters.

Despite what some endocrinologists tell us!!!

This is why I trained as a Certified Primal Health And Nutrition Expert {PHNE}

Because i know THIS WORKS AMAZINGLY WELL for those of us with hypothyroidism and/or Hashimoto’s

👉 It's what I teach my 1to1 clients

👉 And its the basis of my

28 Day Hypothyroid & Hashimoto's
Weight & Energy Plan

WHICH INCLUDES

So what does a Paleo or Primal style diet for thyroid health look like?

Real, whole delicious and nutritious foods—chemical-free and unprocessed if possible

Lots of nutrient-rich meats, seafood, and veg

Foods naturally rich in selenium, zinc, vitamin D, iodine, and B vitamins (things like shellfish, lean meat, mushrooms, herbs, and leafy greens)

Fermented foods—think sauerkraut, kimchi, kefir—to support gut health (which is huge for autoimmunity)

❤️ It means nourishing your body with what it needs.
Not starving it. ❤️

👉 If you can, ask your doctor to run a full panel of vitamin and mineral tests. You may be low in some of the nutrients that can really move the needle when it comes to calming the immune system.

Your tiny but mighty action steps:

  1. Cut the processed modern stuff. Ditch grains and ultra-processed foods for a month and see how you feel.
  2. Eat protein at every meal - This improves your energy and stops cravings
  3. Add in one fermented food per day—bonus points if it’s homemade. But if you really can't - get a good quality probiotic
  4. Track your symptoms. Energy, sleep, mood, bloating… they all give clues.

And just remember:

If someone tells you there’s nothing you can do—
That it’s all in your head—
That food doesn’t matter—

They’re wrong. Wrong. WRONG!

We now have the PROOF!

There’s so much you can do.

You’ve just got to take your health, weight and energy back into your own hands—one primal, powerful bite at a time.

Hi Beautiful! As I was out earlier, I noticed the first daffodils and crocuses starting to peek through the soil. The air was mild, the sky was clear, and for the first time in months, it felt like winter was finally loosening its grip. For those of us with hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s, this shift in seasons can feel like a real turning point. Winter can be especially tough when your thyroid isn’t functioning optimally. Low thyroid levels can make it incredibly hard to stay warm, and for...

thyroid and neurodivergent

Hi Beautiful!, This week is Neurodiversity Celebration Week (March 17-23, 2025), and there's something I've noticed in our community that I think deserves more attention. I ran a poll in our Facebook group a while back asking about whether members were either diagnosed or thought they were on the neurodiversity spectrum. Amazingly 61% of those responding either have a diagnosis or suspect they might have ADHD, autism, or both. That's not a coincidence, and today I want to talk about why. PLUS...

Hi, I saw something in another thyroid support group today that broke my heart. A woman shared how she'd been following one of those big brand weight loss memberships religiously - tracking every point, attending every meeting, doing EVERYTHING right... And when she went for her weigh-in? She'd gained weight. The comments were filled with similar stories. Women blaming themselves, feeling like failures, wondering what they were doing wrong. So I need to tell you something important: It's not...
