Hi Reader, Think about the Titanic. A huge, slow ship. And an iceberg that sank it anyway. Not because the captain was careless. But because his instruments couldn't see what was underneath the surface. This is exactly what is happening with standard thyroid treatment. What your doctor can see Your TSH result. Maybe your T4. If those numbers fall inside the normal range, the appointment is over. Medication adjusted if needed. See you in six months. They're not being dismissive. They genuinely believe that number tells them everything they need to know. But it doesn't. What's hidden underneath The things that determine how well you actually feel on thyroid treatment are rarely tested. 👉 Free T3, the hormone your cells actually run on, is almost never checked 👉 Gut health, which directly affects how well your medication is absorbed 👉 Adrenal patterns, especially if you've been running on stress for years 👉 Insulin resistance, closely linked to thyroid problems but rarely investigated at the same time 👉 Nutrient levels like iron, vitamin D, B12 and selenium, all of which your thyroid depends on 👉 Low-level inflammation, especially common in Hashimoto's Any one of these can be the difference between feeling well and not feeling well. None of them show up in a standard blood panel. Why this matters Research shows that 92% of people with hypothyroidism still don't feel well after treatment. That's not bad luck. One thing you can do right now At your next blood test, ask for Free T3 and Free T4 alongside your TSH. You may get some pushback. That's okay. You can simply say you'd like to understand how your thyroid hormone is working at a cellular level, not just whether your pituitary gland is sending the right signals. It's a small question. But it can open a much bigger conversation. You deserve someone who is looking below the waterline. P.S. If you want to understand more about what's underneath your iceberg, I have a community where we dig into exactly this. Tests worth asking for, patterns worth understanding, things that often get missed. |

Hi Reader, If you've ever sat in a doctor's office, been told your results are fine, and walked out still feeling absolutely terrible - last night's talk was for you. Dr. Shandeep Momi joined us live inside The Hypothyroid Recovery Hub for nearly two hours. And I'm not exaggerating when I say that by the end, every single person in the room was nodding along. His information was a game changer.!! Hi Reader You know that feeling when you read something in the news and think – we've been saying this for years. That happened this week. 😊 The European Society of Cardiology just published official guidance telling doctors to advise their heart patients to cook more food from scratch. Less ultra-processed food. More real ingredients. More meals made at home. And honestly? For those of us managing hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's, this feels long overdue. The thing about ultra-processed food...
Hi Reader I want to share something that happened to me this week – because if it happened to me, it could easily be happening to you too. You know that feeling when you've finally – finally – got something sorted with your health? When you've done the work, had the conversations, pushed through the awkwardness of advocating for yourself with your GP, and got something in place that actually helps? And then, quietly, without anyone telling you, it gets undone. That's what happened to me this...
